Job description for Electronics Engineer

You will join a team dedicated to developing either the active vehicle control system or the hover and missile compensation control system. These high-integrity, multi-layered solutions are critical for the safety and operation of our submarines. Your work will directly contribute to the reliability and effectiveness of these systems, ensuring they perform safely under all conditions.

These are influential roles, working with key stakeholders to provide technical expertise, education, and assurance to deliver the hardware and software solutions. As an integral member of the team, you will have the opportunity to operate across the engineering lifecycle, from deriving requirements to installing and testing these systems.

This role requires you to have lived in the UK for the last 5 years and obtain Security Check (SC) security clearance. Clearance must be obtained without any caveats that prevent you from carrying out the role you’ve been recruited for. If it isn’t obtained, or is obtained but with caveats that prevent you from carrying out the role, any conditional offer made to you will be withdrawn. Obtaining SC security clearance can be a lengthy process, and we reserve the right to withdraw any conditional offer made if the necessary security clearance isn’t obtained within 12 months.

What you’ll be doing

• Provide expert advice and guidance in own technical area to solve complex technical problems and identify application risks
• Monitor and implement any governance and assurance policies and procedures of the system into build
• Provide technical guidance in support of decision panels
• Ensure the design maturity of the system, meeting all required standards and specifications
• Support the installation and testing of systems dockside and during the exit phase

Person specification

To be successful with your application, you’ll need to show that you meet the following essential criteria:

• Hold a relevant Level 4 (or higher) qualification or equivalent experience
• Be a Chartered or Incorporated engineer or have the ability to obtain within 9 months of starting in the post
• Have previous experience within electrical or electronic engineering
